Superhero Films

If you are a big fan of superheroes and have enjoyed the recent spat of movies based around this ever bursting genre of the ordinary person taking on the guise of a caped crusader and fighting for truth, justice (and usually the American way too) including Special, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Defendor, Kick-Ass and to a point, even Batman Begins and The Dark Knight then you might enjoy 'SUPER'.

This film starring Rainn Wilson of The Office fame and was actually first was released last year at the Toronto Film Festival, but is finally getting a movie theatre release (if only for a limited time). It also stars Liv Tyler, Ellen Paige and Kevin Bacon.

The movie is about superhero Crimson Bolt (great name by the way) after his wife falls under the influence of a drug dealer, an everyday guy transforms himself into Crimson Bolt, a superhero with the best intentions, though he lacks for heroic skills.

Critics have given it a thumbs up and IMDB reviewers enjoyed the quirky take it has on the genre by describing it as: "From the epilogue through the totally ridiculous (in a good way) animated song and dance credit sequence on, you know you are in for something different. This is a film that embraces the absurd and the full-blown psychopathic, and delivers a twistedly hilarious comic gem that lacks the seriousness (mostly) that plagues the other films previously mentioned".

Go for it!- see it while you can...

What or who is Paul?

For those of you that enjoyed the the skewed humour of movies like 'Hot Fuzz' and 'Sean of the Dead' then watch out for 'Paul' brought to you by the same creative team.

According to IMDB "Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead) reunite for the comedy adventure Paul as two sci-fi geeks whose pilgrimage takes them to America's UFO heartland. While there, they accidentally meet an alien who brings them on an insane road trip that alters their universe forever."

Coming out this weekend Paul has caused a sensation over the pond and I for one am going to be first in line to see it opening weekend.
